Ultrasonography use sound waves to create an image of part of the body (without X-ray). Breast ultrasound is a complimentary examination after mammogram. It is useful distinguishing fluids from solids lesions.
For a breast ultrasound you don’t need a preparation.

 How is performed the ultrasound examination?
During the exam you lay on a stretcher. A small amount of special gel is placed on the part of the breast will be examine. The radiologist doctor uses a small device (transducer) to examine the area and observe the images on a T.V monitor. Several images are taking for document the findings. The exam takes a half-hour.

 The results?
The radiologist doctor will discuss with you and bring you the report and the films that you will refer to your primary care doctor.
