COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CT )
Is a technology that uses x-rays and advanced computer technique to generate cross-sectional (axial) images. Any portion of the body can be imaged by CT .

Your preparation: do not eat solid food for three hours prior to the examination. You may drink clear liquids.
For the abdominal or pelvic CT scan you will be drinking oral contrast one hour before the exam.
For the majority of CT scan examination we use intravenous contrast also. If you have asthma or allergy or you are pregnant you must inform us before the examination.
CT scanning is a simple method to see inside your body.

Spiral CT(helical CT) is major recent advance in CT technology. With conventional CT when the chest , the abdomen and pelvis are imaged the patient has to hold his breath as each image is acquired (for several times).Problems may arise due to misregistration of the images for example if a patient did not hold his breath in exactly the same way each time ,a portion of the scanned organ may be missed completely and small legions may not be identified. With spiral CT an entire scan can be obtain while the patient hold his breath. These is easier for the patient and eliminate the problem of misregistration .With the spiral CT scanner can be performed specialized applications: recostructions into different planes with elaborate three-dimensional images , CT angiography

CT Angiography is a new technique that can be used to study the vascular tube and can be performed easily with spiral CT scanner. By intravenous line a contrast is given and thin sections are obtained so that the vessels can be imaged accurately.Reconstuctions can then be performed for surgical planning.

We perform also CT guided biopsy .
